Marty Campisi is an architectural landscape design expert, a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers the owner and creative director of desert oasis landscape design & concepts. He offers design services for both the construction professional and homeowner. For the past 12 years he has been working with successful landscape companies, pool builders and home builders. He has years of professional experience as a salesperson, designer, sales manager and general manager.
He has formal training in architectural drafting, landscape design and furniture design, construction, sales and including over 20 years of design experience. He has studied landscaping at Glendale Community College, ASU. He majored in architectural drafting at Scottsdale and Phoenix Community College. He has also taken classes at the City of Scottsdale Water Conservation, Cave Creek Gardens when a speaker that interests him is doing the presentation.
An unforgettable lecture with humorous undertones featured different architects, including Palo Solari. Another architect had just finished her seminar on Urban and Environmental Planning and Solari was to follow. Solari , then in his 80’s walked up to the front of the lecture hall and commented on her design concept in a soft voice “very interesting, but delusional”. His reaction to her concept illustrates the importance of thinking pragmatic and realistic with in a project.
Marty worked on the Revitalization Project South of Indian School Rd in Scottsdale and has given presentations for organizations including the AZ Pond Society, The Valley of the Sun KOI Society and Maricopa Home and Garden Expo in Scottsdale. He has collaborated with well known architects including Don Campbell and Interior Designers as Sheila Ozias of Opulence Interiors Etc. in Scottsdale. He has designed and managed projects for prominent Valley builders including Monument Homes, Hammer Homes, New Legacy Homes, Belmont Homes, Cullem Homes, Engle Homes, Fulton Homes, Beaezer Homes, and Allen Design Homes. He has also designed landscaping for homeowners living in but not limited to West Wing Mountain in Peoria, Las Sendas in Mesa, Province in Maricopa, Desert Mountain, Greyhawk and DC Ranch in Scottsdale and Sun City Grand in Surprise.
When Marty interviews a client he is very detailed. He wants to know what you would like to see when you walk outside your door. Do you want a tropical feel or the desert with cacti? Remember you can have a tropical look with low water use plants. Will you be hiring a maintenance company? The answer to this question will help with concerns of upkeep. What have you seen in magazines or locally that you would like to have in your yard? He is looking to have the client to explain their dream retreat and when and how they would use it. He always puts the clients’ wants and needs in the forefront.
Creative and innovative problem solving is needed when trying to meet homeowner’s expectations. There are crucial qualities needed to make great designs come to life, exceptional organizational skills, integrity and years of experience are among them.
